9b5ec100e5 Markdown writer: update escaping rules for \. 
We now escape `\` only if `raw_tex` is enabled or
it is followed by a non-alphanumeric.

b806bff5b4 LaTeX reader: fix bugs omitting raw tex. 
The default is `-raw_tex`, so no raw tex should result
unless we explicitly say `+raw_tex`.  Previously some
raw commands did make it through.

Closes #4527.
