Pandoc recognizes an abbreviation and inserts a nonbreaking
|
||
|
|
space (among other things, this prevents a sentence-ending
|
||
|
|
space from being inserted in LaTeX output).
|

|

Here pandoc readjusts the softbreak so that the nonbreaking
